Activities

Barbados has a surprising amount of sport on offer both to enjoy as a spectator or as a participant. Enjoy an abundance of water sports from sailing and surfing to kite surfing and windsurfing. If water is not your thing then why not tee off in the sun at one of a number of excellent championship standard golf courses.

Spectators will delight in watching international cricket at the Kensington Oval or horse racing at the Garrison Savannah. With races running throughout the year this makes a great day out for all the family. The Kensington Oval is a great venue for international cricket. The Bajan spirit adds a unique twist to the cricket with a loud and active crowd and the rhythm of steel pan bands reverberating through the stands.

Climate

Barbados can boast long sun drenched summer days offering over 9 hours of sunshine per day. Between December and May the island is at its best and there is very little rain during these months. From June until October is the rainy season with tropical storms blowing across the island. This is also hurricane season, although the island is rarely hit directly.

Owing to its location, temperatures in Barbados do not vary much during the year and average 24 to 29 degrees Celsius. Trade winds blow across the island helping to cool it down and keep you feeling refreshed. This said the island remains one of the sunniest and driest in the Caribbean. Even during the rainy season the skies clear quickly and the blue skies return, while the island feels clean and refreshed.
